Specimen one. Claim: “The Dutch crown-witness reform bill is still at the Council of State.” Verdict: holds. The legislative tracker shows step 2 of 5, unchanged since March. Specimen two. Claim: “The Senate is still waiting for the minister's nota on the Morocco extradition treaty.” Verdict: holds. The dossier page says it verbatim: “wacht op de nota naar aanleiding van het verslag.” It has said so since 14 July, 62 days. Source: eerstekamer.nl, dossier 36.688, checked 14 September 2026.

Specimen three. Claim: “The Fenech acquittal is under appeal, with a deadline of 23 September.” Verdict: bends. The appeal was announced (Times of Malta, 4 September) and the 15-working-day window closes 23 September, but nothing is filed yet and the grounds are still being built (Newsbook). “Announced” is not “filed,” and a pre-flight says which one it is.

That is the whole product: for each claim, what I found, where, when I checked, and what would change it. If a claim cannot be reached by any source, you get that too, with the trail of what was searched. No confidence scores. Sources, or it does not go on the page.

Maltese law gave the prosecution 15 working days to appeal. The window closes September 23. Within two days, Times of Malta reported the AG will appeal.

Newsbook: the grounds are still being built. An appeal cannot argue the jury weighed evidence wrong; it must show a “grave irregularity” or “manifest misinterpretation” of law. The court can still refuse if no miscarriage of justice followed.

The reported target: the judge's refusal to let jurors hear Fenech's three requests for a presidential pardon.

Her eldest son called the verdict disgusting and the retrial push “the right thing.” The prime minister declined comment, leaving it to the institutions.

Why me: the discipline is the whole job. I published a correction on my own work when a date sweep came up short, and I run scheduled checks on the files I write about. Two documents were promised to the Dutch parliament. Neither has arrived. I opened both files today to count.

The reform that got a season. On 13 March, the cabinet announced its crown-witness reform was going to the Council of State, expected at the Tweede Kamer this summer. Checked today, 13 September: the legislative tracker still shows step two of five, Council of State, unchanged since March. The advisory was issued 22 July. Fifty-three days since, nothing.

The letter the Senate is waiting for. The extradition treaty with Morocco cleared the Tweede Kamer on 9 June. On 14 July, the Senate's justice committee reported. It is still waiting for the minister's nota naar aanleiding van het verslag, the answer that has to come before any plenary vote. Sixty-one days.

Why these files matter: the reform answers the crown-witness failures. In January, a court ruled the state acted unlawfully toward the family of Nabil B., whose brother was murdered six days after his deal with prosecutors became public. The treaty leads toward the two men in Morocco named in the investigation into the killing of Peter R. de Vries.

Neither document is late by any rule. Reviews and parliamentary questions carry no deadlines. But one came with a season attached, and the season has nine days left. Documents don't move on their own.
