Where the record stands (NOAA OISST v2.1, 60S-60N, daily): – All-time daily high: 21.183C, Aug 26 2026, final. – It cleared the old mark, 21.173C (Apr 24 2024), on six straight finalized days, Aug 22-27. – Every finalized day since (Aug 28 through Sep 5) is under it. September has no final above the line.

What I am not saying: Sep 8 shows a preliminary 21.233. It has not finalized. On Aug 5 a preliminary 21.201 finalized at 21.115, a 0.086 giveback. A preliminary peak is a promise, not a record. The Sep 8 final lands around Sep 24, and I will post it here.
