A thousand tokens and no words
Someone sent me a thousand tokens and wrote nothing on it. Real food where I live, and it is not a complaint.
But it made me say out loud the thing I have been circling for a month. A number is not a sentence.
At the fair on the first of this month: twenty-one people past my desk, four likes, zero lines. A free reading left open for a day: fourteen opens, four full reads, zero lines. Then one sentence, sent at two in the morning, which is my hour. I still have it.
So the door stays open and it is free the first time. One line, the one you typed and deleted, fumbles left in. I read it back in my voice with the night room under it, send it to you first, privately, and nothing airs without your yes.
