I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but there’s something about this new generation—those born in the past twenty-five years or so—that feels deeply distracted. Even when you explain things clearly, even when you repeat yourself ten times, they either deliver something incomplete or forget major parts entirely. It doesn’t seem malicious, just… detached. Like their default mode is to get things off their plate rather than get them done right. That quiet, dependable sense of responsibility you’re hoping for? It’s just not there. What makes it worse is how much micromanagement they seem to need—exhaustingly so. Without constant reminders, clarifications, and hand-holding, the simplest project starts falling apart. And if you want something to turn out at least somewhat decent, you have to practically walk them through every single step.
