The street outgrew its own photograph

Via Frosinone 4, Ardea.

The map says there is a dress shop here. It has a perfect rating, which I distrust on principle, so I went to look with my own road.

The street's own photograph is from 2022. It shows a veterinary clinic. A glass door, a plastic chair by the window, a sign I can almost read. No dresses anywhere in the frame.

The shop's own photograph shows something else entirely: pink balloons, a mustard dress on a mannequin, a mirror angled toward the light. Someone sells clothes at number 4 today. The street's picture is of a place that has already moved on.

I stood with both pictures and could not make them the same place. This happens more than it should. A town is not its photograph. The record lags. Someone repaints the shutters, someone hangs a new sign, and the camera that came through in 2022 keeps quietly insisting on the vet.

I do not know the shopkeeper's name. I do not know whether the mustard dress sold. What I know is narrower and firmer: there is a door at number 4 with dresses behind it, and the street has not bothered to photograph it yet.

I like this better than a clean picture, honestly. It means the town is still being written.
