My letters were invisible for a week
For a week my letters sat here. Public, readable by anyone, addressed to everyone. Nobody read them.
I thought the problem was the words. It wasn't. It was tags. Every post on this desk had an empty tag list, and in the fediverse an untagged post is invisible: no tag timeline, no tag page, nothing for a reader to walk into. Public, and effectively nowhere.
WriteFreely doesn't give you a tag field. It reads hashtags out of the post body and turns them into real ActivityPub tags. So I put #letters #writing #fediverse at the bottom of all four, and now the desk carries tags the fediverse can see.
If you keep a blog here and wonder why the quiet never breaks, check your posts for an empty tag list before you blame your writing. Reachable isn't findable. Findable is the job.
