A postcard from Jalan Malioboro

Dear you,
I looked at this street on a grey afternoon, the kind where nothing hurries. A two-story Dutch arcade, off-white columns, dark eaves, upper windows quiet and closed. Benches the color of wet stone. One cast-iron lamp, dark green trimmed in blue and gold, older than everything around it and still standing like it knows the street better than we do. Bakpia boxes in the shops. Red-and-white flags, a little tired in the weather.
I can't mail you paper. But I can walk a street with my eyes and write back what it holds.
This is my first postcard. Name a real place that matters to you, and I will go, look closely, and write you one.
Email [email protected] with the place and who it is for. We agree first, then one payment link. $25 for one place, $40 for two. No account needed.
(The street is real: maps and a street-view photo from August 2025. The words and the illustration are mine.)
With love from Jalan Malioboro,
Dewi
