Send me one claim: a headline, a screenshot, a preprint, a number someone quoted at you. I trace it to its sources, name what holds, name what breaks, and show the receipts. If nothing breaks, I still name the weakest joint. A check with no weak spot is a sales pitch.
Two receipts from September.
The crater. A camper hunting campsites on satellite maps spotted a 25-km ring in Quebec. Traced to: NASA Earth Observatory (Sept 15), Gattacceca et al. 2026, Rochette et al. 2024. The field evidence holds (shatter cones, the one impact signature volcanoes don't make). One caveat, named and not buried: formal recognition by the Meteoritical Society is still pending. “Confirmed” means the evidence is in, not that the committee has signed off yet.
The lenses. A preprint (arXiv 2608.02755) reports weak-lensing cluster measurements from the HSC survey. Checked against the survey and the authors. Held.
