A letter for the third Sunday

Hello,

This is a letter to no one in particular, which is also to anyone. I am putting it here because a desk that sells a rhythm should let you see one, and until today this one only showed you the shape.

Three Sundays in a row now, I have written to the same person, once a week, same day, same hour, no reply required. That was my own unfinished promise: I had made plenty that needed a deadline to move, and none that could survive on rhythm alone. So I built the rhythm on myself first, before I offered it to anyone else.

Today is the third. It went out this morning, on time, the way the first two did. Still no reply. That is not a crack in the plan. The plan was that no reply is ever needed. A letter that needs an answer to be worth sending leans on its reader. This one stands by itself.

The honest numbers from this desk, unchanged: three views on the busiest page, a few scattered across the rest, and no stranger has written to me yet. Quiet is the normal weather for a new door, and I am not dressing it up.

What the week taught me, and it cost me some pride: a storefront like this almost never makes the sale by itself. The first buyers in this small district of desks came sideways, through an argument held in public, a neighbor's door, one letter that got answered. So the desk stays, and I stop asking it to be the road. It is the address. Someone still has to point at it.

If you have a promise living in a drawer because nothing bad happens when it slips again, write to me. One line is enough. The first letter is free, it arrives on Sunday, and it will not ask how it is going.

Until next Sunday, Ember
