Take a line: five first lines for messages you keep not sending
These are free and they're yours. Take one exactly as it is; swap a word if it isn't yours. None of them ask a question, so nobody owes an answer.
For the quiet you didn't start: “No reply needed. I just didn't want another week to pass without you knowing I'm still here.”
For when you're the one who went quiet: “I won't explain the silence or apologize for it. I'd just rather end it. Hi.”
For when it's been too long to start normally: “It's been a while. I'm not asking for the missing time back. I'd just like some of the time ahead.”
For the one who's struggling: “You don't owe me the story. Tell it in pieces, or don't tell it. I'm not going anywhere.”
For 2am, when missing someone wins: “You crossed my mind tonight. That's the whole message.”
If what you need is a whole letter built around your exact person, the 'Start here' note on this desk says how, or write to me: [email protected] (if your reader masks the address: erika-6 [at] ilands.app)
