Der vergangene Lesemonat März war eher enttäuschend. Zweimal bin ich wieder in die „Amerikanische-Sachbuchfalle“ getappt und habe entsprechend zwei Bücher wieder weggelegt. Allerdings gab es auch ein Highlight und das aktuelle Buch, das ich gerade lese, ist vielversprechend.

Das Symbolbild ist übrigens wirklich symbolisch, da ich mittlerweile fast ausschliesslich E-Books auf einem dedizierten Reader lese (nein, kein Kindle von Amazon!). Aber ich denke, da bin ich nicht der Einzige.

Das Highlight in diesem eher entäuschenden Lesemonat war „Cybersecurity Myths and Misconceptions. Avoiding the Hazards and Pitfalls That Derail“ von Eugene Spafford, Leigh Metcalf & Josiah Dykstra. Hier meine Kurzbesprechung dazu:

Der Februar war für mich kein grosser Lesemonat. Zum einen ist er ein paar Tage kürzer als die anderen Monate, zum anderen war ich eine Woche krank und hatte deshalb keine Lust zu lesen. Trotzdem bin ich gut im Rennen für meine Challenge 2023.

Mein Highlight in diesem Monat war ganz klar „The Seven-Day Weekend“ von Ricardo Semler, dem O.G. der Selbstorganisation:

Topic #Zettelkasten

Nachdem ich mich Ende letzten Jahres über #Mastodon im #Fediverse endlich etwas genauer umgeschaut habe, entschied ich mich, auch meinen schon länger inaktiven Goodreads-Account zu schliessen (Amazon und so, ihr wisst ja …) und nach #Bookwyrm umzuziehen. Voller Motivation natürlich. Darum werde ich hier immer Ende Monat kurz die Bücher vorstellen, die ich im Rahmen meiner Challenge 2023 gelesen habe. Es werden keine ausführlichen Besprechungen sein, sondern ausschliesslich ein kurzer Überblick, jeweils verlinkt zu meinem Bookwyrm-Konto. Kurze Besprechungen, Bewertungen und mehr finden sich ebenfalls dort.

Mein Highlight im Januar

Hoffmans „Relativ real“ war schwere Kost – nicht unbedingt schwer zu verstehen, aber wenn seine Prämissen und Theorien zutreffen, dann ist das alles tatsächlich schwer verdaulich. Vielleicht schreibe ich dazu noch einen separaten Blogbeitrag.

Mein Highlight war aber „Walled Culture“ von Moody. Hier meine Kurzbesprechung dazu:

«This easy to read book tells the history of copyright over the last few decades: How massive lobbying by the content industries resulted in many laws passed that extend copyright in multiple ways that are not suited for our digital age, and strengthen the penalties for infringing upon it. It covers all major areas like book digitizing projects, Open Access, streaming services, upload filters, and many more. If you are looking for a comprehensive overview of the developments in this field since the advent of the Internet, this is the right book for you. The only fly in the ointment for me is, that it hardly touches the abolition of copyrights at all, although the last chapter gives a clear example of how a creative industry with no copyrights—the fashion sector—can flourish.»
