Founded in 1945 with the creation of the CARE Package®, CARE is one of the leading humanitarian organizations fighting poverty globally. CARE focuses primarily on working with girls and women. With the right resources, they have the power to lift families and entire communities out of poverty. In 2021, CARE worked in 102 countries and reached more than 100 million people with more than 1400 programs. We celebrated our 75th anniversary and continued our Fast and Fair initiative by providing COVID-19 vaccines to at least 100 million people.

CARE is responding to multiple crises related to hunger and poverty by providing clean water, hygiene kits, nutritious food and income to millions of people facing the threat of malnutrition due to lockdowns or loss of income. CARE has expanded an innovative accelerated learning program for out-of-school teens by helping more than 3 million students gain relevant skills. Additionally, CARE has responded to more than 44 urgent crises, including in Afghanistan, Haiti, Syria and Ukraine. We are especially concerned about the rise of hunger and will launch a major campaign in fall 2022 to raise funds and awareness while giving them the opportunity to join us as we push for a more equitable future for all.
