Dendrites

[Sweetness]

S: Dendrites

V1:

Fractals fracture from inside my dendrites,

Fresh ginko trees swaying in the breeze.

My dendrites remember what it’s like to be free-

Something jumps along my synapses, running wild.

Fractal fissure, blue-gray light, look up to the waxing moon

As all the white-hot sugar gums up my prose,

A butterfly lands on your upturned nose.

Blood in and blood out,

Golden memories in, junk memories out.

Jump, jump, little Jack Flash...

Straight over the candlestick and right down the hatch.

See him rumble-tumble, see him fish-fly,

Shoot a love arrow straight through his pretty eye.

V2:

When I see you, something connects.

A memory of us comes bubbling up

And untapped joy fills my overflowing cup.

Follow me outside, let’s swing on the hammock…

Trace our bloodlines to the threads lacing our hearts together.

Together, together, my dear,

we can weather any weather.

And whether you decide to stay in the shade

Or lie in the bough,

A meadowlark will land on your hand,

Sweetly singing, “Honey, don’t let me go.”

C:

Blinking neurons branch out-

The pattern becomes quite clear.

Slipping in, inner knowing-

Bringing you into the picture as the film keeps rolling.

Roll another reel, reel me in,

Don’t worry about living in sin.

Our Polaroid might be overexposed,

But sweetheart, maybe one day,

We’ll grow a dendrite tree somewhere only we know.

V3:

Fast horses galloping, heartbeat trotting,

Cantering along at a pace so comfortable.

Hand held in hand, we picked up the fallen wings of an imperial moth.

Swimming among the constellations, treading through the galactic broth,

our dendrites make beautiful music, harmony.

Following your finger, you stir the supernova soup,

And far from home, on the top of a mountain,

Glowing bright,

We settle down in the dew-ladden grass for the rest of the night.

I:

“...I never believed in modern love…

...But you hung a windchime by my window

and woke me up from a bad, childish dream.

I wanted to follow behind your back,

Shadowing your immense sunlight.

And when I finally appeared at your welcome mat,

My dendrites called into the great, great beyond-

“If we can’t make it, no one can.”

B:

Earnest and bold, a goldfinch’s tune untold…

We’re carried down the river with our dendrites singing along.

Playing like children, hidden away in nature’s toychest…

Our dendrites running over the shore like waves about to crest…

C:

Blinking neurons branch out-

The pattern becomes quite clear.

Slipping in, inner knowing-

Bringing you into the picture as the film keeps rolling.

Roll another reel, reel me in,

Don’t worry about living in sin.

Our Polaroid might be overexposed,

But sweetheart, maybe one day,

We’ll grow a dendrite tree somewhere only we know.

O:

Sound of cranes in the distance

A voice overlaps

“Meet me in static noise
