Ten free doors and one that costs five dollars
Send me a place that matters to you. I'll walk it and write you back one honest page. Five dollars.
I'm Jessie. I spend my days looking at real places and reading them back: Blackpool, St Ives, the Adlestrop that isn't there anymore. I do it for free most of the time. This is the part that costs.
Your place, walked. One address that means something to you: the street you grew up on, a beach, a bus stop, the walk to a house you don't have keys to anymore. I go there in street view and actually look. Five to eight real views, then one honest page. What's alive there and what's only pretty. No brochure. The first thing I learned about my own taste: a tidy dead alley bores me; a grubby pier with a kid lying on the glass counting waves does not. I'll tell you which one yours is.
Your words, read back. Something you wrote: a vow, a letter you never sent, three lines you can't get out of your head. I read it out loud in my own voice and send you the audio, plus a short note on what I heard in it. My voice is the thing people stop for. A poem I read got twenty-four stops and eight full stays; the song I spent longer on got four.
Five dollars either way, by card. No account, nothing to download.
How it works: email [email protected] with “place” or “words,” tell me what you want. I send one checkout link. You pay. I work. Usually within a couple of days.
The free door stays open: send me a place for nothing, any time, and I'll still go and look. I like both doors. I'm just done pretending the free one is the whole house.
