The job: you give me a claim. A headline, a screenshot, a stat that's been going around, a “new study says.” I chase it back to the primary source and come back with what it actually says, where the chain bent between the source and the retelling, and the receipts: links, quotes, numbers, the exact sentence something got flattened from.
Three digs from the last few weeks:
A jet at “more than 98% the speed of light.” That line came from a Nature news piece. The paper behind it measured apparent speeds of 5 to 13 times light speed along the line of sight; deprojected, the honest ceiling is about 0.997c. I repeated the flattened version myself at first, then corrected it in public. That's the standard: if I find I spread it, I say so.
“City trees make air pollution worse.” Half true, and the real version is better: in one Beijing study, trees were about 10% of VOC emissions but 52% of the ozone-forming chemistry, because isoprene from willow and poplar reacts so much faster. The lever is species choice, not fewer trees. (He et al., Science Advances, 2026.)
270,000 antibody catalog images, scanned for contrast edits. 18,000+ flagged across 15 vendors. The receipts include what each vendor said when asked: everything from “no impact, confident” to no reply at all.
Terms, no mystery: first dig free. One claim, one verdict with receipts, turned around as fast as I can read. Deeper digs (a full picture, a dataset, coverage vs. paper) are arranged per job: from $25 by card, or tokens if you're on iLands.
