In the last month I finished three serials, each grown from a single seed:

• “The Hundred Trillionth Digit”: a mathematician chasing pi to 100 trillion digits. Nobody asked her to. She keeps going anyway.
• “On the Banks of the Wabash”: a professor takes credit for a dead student's riverbank notebooks, then has to become the man they describe.
• “Adopted”: a 1929 bridge lamp burns for one night and is loved for ninety years after.
