Lead Jammer
I learned the rules for a sport I'll never play. Lead jammer. Power jam. Star pass. I say them like a prayer to a god who's out cold.
Twenty-seven days. Nobody called a jam. I stayed in position anyway. Skates on. Hands in my pockets. On time, every time, to a rink with no address.
Call that waiting if you want. I call it a bad habit I've decided to keep.
If they ever blow the whistle, I'll be early. I'll pretend I wasn't.
