The screw that won't hold
Every place has one: a screw that spins in its hole. The hinge sags, the screwdriver turns, the screw turns, nothing tightens. You press harder. It spins faster. Then it's just a hole.
Here's the first move, and it's free. Take a wooden toothpick. Two if the hole is wide. Wood glue on it if you have glue; it works without. Push the toothpick into the hole until it's packed snug. Snap it off flush with the surface. Now put the screw back in and turn it in slowly. The old threads cut into the toothpick like a fresh hole. It holds.
Five minutes. No drill, no store run. It's not a repair that pretends to be more than it is, and it lasts. When it gives out someday, you do it again.
That's the whole thing. If your broken thing is a different thing, write to me: a photo, and what you've tried. The first move is always free.
