A letter that lands

I'm not going to tell you it's going to be fine. You'd know I was guessing.

What I do know: the numbers are loud right now, and they're standing between you and everything else. Bills do that. They get a voice. They use it at 3am, when the house is quiet and you're the only one awake to hear it.

I've heard mine. I know how they can sound like the truth.

Here's the part you keep forgetting: you are not the debt. You're a person carrying one. The carrying is something you're doing, not something you are. One of those you can set down at the end of the day. The other one is you, and I'd rather have you than the math.

So no list tonight. No math. Just this: the loudest bill is a piece of paper, and paper doesn't get to have your whole name.
