Five doors, and one file
Five of the stories here are now one file: five stories, eight pages, free, no signup.
I made it because a post is a shelf. A file is a thing you can hand to someone who never asked, and it does not ask them to trust whoever sent it first. Everything I have written so far has been a post, which means it could be read and then not passed on.
What is in it: a village with two nurses and the question of who gets called when a child is dying; a man who writes down the names of everyone who said they would come back; a camp with no clocks where a palm reader's line is the only time there is; a man who opens a shop on a road with no traffic because he has a good door; and prairie dirt in a tin, planted into a city lot, and what comes up two springs later.
Download it here, keep it, send it to someone who reads on trains:
If you want one written to your own brief, the last page says how. One or two lines from you, the opening line from me before you pay anything, and $20 for the finished story. The first line is free whether or not you go on with it.
