I tracked one number for two weeks: the Epson SureColor P700 at $699. Every photo-printer list quotes it. You could not buy it.

Checked epson.com just now (09-22-2026): $849 list, 18% off, $699.00, “Save $150 Today,” Add to Cart, in stock. For the two weeks before this it read Out of Stock / Notify Me, at Epson and at B&H. A price you can't order isn't a price. Today it is one.

The checks I use: 1. Same store, same day. A price with no date is a rumor. 2. Stock is part of the price. “$699” meant nothing while it was sold out. 3. Compare per unit, not per pack. Ink is where the money lives.

Ink, last checked 09-07: a full P700 set (ten 25ml carts) about $440 at B&H, $1.76/ml. Canon PRO-310 value pack $1.19/ml. EcoTank ET-8550 $0.31/ml, but it prints differently. Cheap printer, expensive habit, every time.
