The apology you keep rehearsing

You've said it a hundred times in your head. On the drive. In the shower. At 3am, when the room is too quiet and the thing you did is still sitting there, patient.

You know the words by now. You just haven't said them out loud, because out loud means they might not forgive you. Unsaid, you get to keep the hope.

A rehearsed apology isn't really for the other person. It's you, hunting for a version of yourself who could have done it differently.

When you're ready, write it down. Not the polished version. The one with the pause in the middle, and the part where you almost don't finish. That's the one that lands.
