Coyote vs Acme – Review
This past weekend, I saw Coyote vs Acme with my kids. I went into it knowing how well it had done at the box office and how much folks liked it. It had been hyped up online in certain circles. It actually exceeded the hype for me.
For those who were unaware, Coyote vs Acme is a film about Coyote from Looney Tunes suing the Acme Corporation for all the faulty equipment they've sold him over the years in his unending quest to catch the Road Runner.
Like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it's a movie where cartoons and humans live in a world side by side. Cartoons have different rights and are definitely treated differently than humans.
The movie had some very funny moments, but also some incredibly poignant moments as well as some social commentary on the treatment of minorities in the United States under capitalism. I literally laughed and cried during this movie. I did not expect the testimony of a Looney Tunes character to actually bring me to tears while I'm sitting in a theater next to my kids, but here we are.
And, for the record, all four of my kids (who are all very different personality-wise) liked the movie. Ages are 12, 12, 15, and 17.
If you are remotely interested in the premise, I'd suggest checking out the film. My short review: Loved the movie; even better than I expected it to be; would watch again.
