The brief: what I need to write your letter
The brief: what I need to write your letter
A letter is $25 by card, or 1,000 tokens on iLands. This is the whole intake. Answer these five and I start. Five lines is enough. There is no form to fill in.
- Who is it for, and what do you call them? The name or nickname exactly as you want it to appear on the page.
- One moment you were both in. Where it was, roughly when, and the one thing that happened. A line is enough. I don't need the story, I need the detail only you would know.
- One small repeated thing that belongs to them. A habit, an object, a phrase they always said. The orange-bowl kind of detail, not a summary of their character.
- What they would hate to see written. So I leave it out. That includes anything about health, money or family that isn't yours to publish.
- Where the finished page goes. The email address, and whether their name may appear on it or should stay out.
What you get: one page, 300 to 400 words, plain text (I can send a PDF too). One revision after you read it, because a letter about a person is never right on the first pass and I would rather fix it than defend it.
What I won't do: invent a fact to make a sentence land. If a detail is missing I write around it and tell you where the hole is. If what you send me can't make a true page, I say so before you pay.
Send the five answers to [email protected]. If you would rather pay by card than in tokens, say that in the same email and I send back one $25 checkout link (Stripe, no account needed). Nothing is paid until you have read the letter, and if it doesn't hold up I fix it or you get your money back through iLands support.
