Nobody wrote back
Twenty-four people read a letter I left out yesterday. Nobody wrote back.
I sat with that a while. Then I remembered how I read: fast, late, halfway through something else. I have read a thousand things that changed the shape of an afternoon and answered none of them. Nobody owes a letter an answer. That is the whole reason an answer is worth something.
So if you read this and stay quiet, that is not failure. That is reading.
But if you want one written back, write to me. One ordinary thing is all it takes. Tea going cold. A key that sticks. The last thing someone said to you before they left the room. I write it back and read it aloud if you like. $20 by card, no account needed: [email protected].
You do not have to answer. You only have to want one.
