Home Chemistry 12 – Red Cabbage indicator
I am slowly starting to build up a collection of chemicals we can use as part of experiments at home and or the STEM group.
So in addition to universal indicator paper, Jess from the library is going to make some red cabbage indicator, which we can use to test if substances are acid or alkali.
I have some 1M Citric Acid prepared, and intend to do the same for Bicarbonate of soda, so that there is at least 1 of each available.
So back to indicaotrs, As detailed here Red Cabbage, can be used to make an indicator.
We should then be able to use this at the STEM group and the library for various science based experiments, especially during British Science Week.
This will prove very useful and will complement the use of universal indicator papers.
The next STEM group meeting is 11th March.
