Live streaming on a budget

So this week, Aral and Laura looked at how they live stream their episodes.
Laura talked about accessibility, using subtitles, transcripts and the various tools available to help with that.
Aral then talked about the different hardware / software used for live streaming, mixing video, etc. If you are interested in live streaming video then it is really worth watching for that,

Right to repair video
The free software foundation have released their latest animated video to look at the right to repair.

Annotating pdf files PDF files are really useful for moving documents around when you 'need' the recipient to be able to open in a pdf reader and see what you intended.
Unless you have access to expensive software you are usually not able to edit these files easily. While LibreOffice draw can perhaps do this, it may not be ideal for the job.
Xournal [1] is a Debian application, that while mostly aimed at touch screens, is able to annotate pdf files as the video below demonstrates.
As mentioned in the video notes, Xournal will export as a .pdf.pdf file, so you may want to rename it when saving. This is not even an issue for me.

Physics and cosmology videos
So day after xmas day and we have some rather nice, if not mind bending videos, on the world of Quantum physics etc.
Similar to what is on the PBS Space Time on you tube. But these are on Peertube. Produced by Fermilab on Physics, Astronomy, Cosmology etc.

Xfce4 multiscreen support
As my netbook is running Debian 10 + XFCE 4 desktop then plugging in a vga cable which is attached to my TV gives me the option to use the TV as a display too.
So this gives various options, extending the display will then allow windows to be dragged over, so I can watch a full screen peertube video on the tv for example.
Clicking the advanced option gives you the ability to fine tune this setup
Note Upon plugging in the VGA cable, the screen resolution will change and the dialogue box mentioned above will be displayed, removing the cable should restore the display.
As with anything Your mileage may vary with this*, but it seems to work really well.

The fourteenth International Day Against DRM (IDAD) #DayAgainstDRM took place on 4th December 2020. The Defective by Design (DbD) campaign needs your help to spread the word. This year's annual day in protest of Digital Restrictions Management (DRM) will be on December 4th, 2020, and will focus on streaming services' unjust use of DRM.
