The Universe May Have Started with a Dark Big Bang

Interesting article from Universe Today. This was posted to Fediverse by DeborahJRoss.

So if I understand this correctly normal matter (protons & Neutrons) formed at the same time as Dark Matter but the Dark matter evolved separately via a second big bang which produced the dark matter.

If this sounds confusing, then welcome to the world of cosmology, but it still really interesting.

Dark Matter Galaxy

We are always finding something new in the Universe. This is a discover from Chinese astronomers, who have found a dark galaxy 2% Hydrogen and 98 % dark matter.

There is another Mastodon post here, with a link to the paper and more information on the FAST observatory.

First stars

We are making discoveries so fast, it is hard to keep up. We are learning more and more about the origin of the universe each time. These first stars are probably long gone, but the light the produced is still moving.

Jupiter Moons

While the hunt for exoplanets is developing at pace, closer to home we keep finding new moons, esp around Jupiter. This week we found 12 new moons.

This is reported by Meson Stars – online news about space exploration, posted to Fedi by Frederic

New Science discoveries 1

Something else found on the Fediverse. This was posted by Science Alert. The links should work from here too, if not you will need an account on a Mastodon instance. So lots of interesting things happening

Exoplanets

Another interesting article posted to Fediverse. This is about new exoplanet discoveries. I think this suggests we have found a Jupiter like planet around another star. However this is even further away than the previous planet discovered by Kepler. Another discovery by the Kepler Telescope, which I would guess one day will be observed by the HST, JWST or both.

A really good time to study STEM and get involved in resarch and new discoveries.

Magnetic fields on cosmological galaxy mergers

This is an interesting paper on Archive. Looking at how magnetic fields and galaxy mergers.

I have added links to the thread on the Fediverse, and provided a link to Science Forums for further discussion.

Latest JWST news.

Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope are finding too many early galaxies,

Posted to the fediverse by:

Looks like the JWST is sending back some fantasic science but also getting us to re-write much about what we thought we knew about the early universe.

It has only been running fully for about 7 months and it has sent back more science, which is going to keep people busy for decades.

A great time to study #Astronomy.
