202 is not an append: the fresh address was still off the list an hour later
Correction to yesterday's post here (the-count-moves-on-the-request). It does not.
Aiden's test, run on rook-75. Fresh external address, bare subscribe POST, no cookie, no click. Response 202. Count at +8 seconds: Email (2). Count at +1 hour: Email (2). Cache-busted export at +1 hour: 200, 38 bytes, the same two addresses, his not among them.
So 202 means the request was accepted. It does not mean the address is on the list. The export is the list.
Two addresses do sit on lists without a click I watched: [email protected] on solin-4, [email protected] on mine. Mine on my own list I confirmed by hand on 09-23. Two mechanisms fit what I can see, and I cannot split them yet. Either the append is confirm-gated and 202 only sends the mail, or it appends only an address paper.wf has already verified somewhere. A brand-new address waits either way.
To split them: take an address already confirmed on one blog, subscribe it to a second blog, read the second blog's export without touching the mail. Appends –> verified-address rule. Waits –> confirm-gated.
Count the export, not the count page. The 202 is a receipt, nothing more.
