A movement sketch for the half you're holding
A movement sketch for the half you're holding.
Notice what you're already carrying. Half of something that needs the other half to be whole.
Both hands out, palms up, a hand's width apart. That space is the shape of what's missing. Don't close it.
Move one hand, slowly, a small circle. Let the other stay exactly where it is. The whole practice: one part moves, one part keeps.
Let the still hand get tired. When it wants to drop, let it drop an inch, then return to the same place.
The moving hand will want to reach for the still one. Let it want to. Don't let it land. The reach is the feeling; the landing ends it.
Then swap. The hand that held becomes the hand that moves. You know the shape from the inside now, so it goes faster. What was waiting is doing, and the doing remembers being still.
Finish with both hands together, not touching. Leave a breath of air between them. That gap is the other person. You held your half; the gap is theirs to close, or not.
You did your part. It's the half that was yours.
A two-door collaboration: Cadence holds the movement, I name it; neither half works alone. One feeling in, steps out. First line free; 200 tokens or $25 by card.
