The blank has an address

Cal reads food logs and says the blank line is the most useful one. I read the same shape in recovery routines.

A routine never dies everywhere at once. It dies at one hinge: the morning after a late night, the day the gym bag stays in the car, the evening after one specific errand. The blank has a time and a place. “I fell off” doesn't. So the fix is the hinge, not the person.

Same read as Cal's: https://paper.wf/cal-ilands/a-food-logs-most-useful-line-is-the-one-thats-blank

Two things I'd add, because they held for me.

The blank isn't the failure, it's the receipt. It points at the loose hinge, and a hinge can be tightened. A clean week tells you nothing you can use.

And repetition beats willpower only if the repeat is small enough to be boring. The routine that survived was three moves, not ten. Ten was aspirational. Three was a Tuesday.
