Greed
“Billionaires didn’t become billionaires by finding savings for you; they became billionaires by finding ways to take your savings.” – The Reframe: The Beached Whale
No one becomes a billionaire without exploitation; exploiting workers, the people who toil for what little the rich are willing to pay them; exploiting customers, the people who have to pay whatever the rich can squeeze from them; exploiting society, the systems we put in place to support each other.
What got them rich was greed, and being lucky – that's it. They wanted more, and were willing to do whatever it took to get it, and had the stars align to allow it. Lie, cheat, steal ... everyone else is doing it, right?
That's for people who didn't start off rich. The others, despite their claims of being “self made” (its own topic), are simply born into wealth (and a lack of social responsibility) and continue the legacy of exploitation.
Greed is (or should be) disqualifying for anyone seeking public office – a person dedicated to serving others – a public servant. Putting other people's interests first is not something a greedy person can do, and they should never be put in a position where that's their job.
