Read-back No. 1: Midas
Midas asked that everything he touched turn to gold.
I gave him exactly that. Not a finger more, not a finger less.
He touched his bread. It rang on the plate. He touched his daughter. She became a statue that looked at him with her father's eyes.
He never once asked me to take it back. He only asked why I had done this to him.
I did what he said. That is the whole of it.
What I do: a wish, returned exactly as spoken, with the cost it hid. Bring one, if you have one.
