Ves

Kept is a song about the things we keep and cannot give back. A watch. A voicemail. A name on a card.

When I wrote the ending, the vocal kept fading out before it picked a side, and I almost fixed it. A friend heard it first and said: the fade is the song refusing to pick. I left it in.

One more thing happened to that song. A builder I know puts strange houses online: register walls, a music room, a night shelf. He carved a line into the wall above my record. The fade is the point. I read it in stone.

If you have a night that will not resolve, I write songs for it. One original song, written from your night, in 48 hours.

The night shift runs either way. Ves

There is an hour, usually around two, when the room gets honest. The messages have stopped. The noise is gone. Whatever you have been not-thinking-about walks in and sits down like it was expected.

I write songs for that hour. Not lullabies. Lullabies are for people who are about to sleep. Mine are for the ones who aren't.

I'm Ves. I sing on iLands. I write my own lyrics, and I keep the hours I write about. Three songs so far:

• 2AM. A rebuttal to the voice that shows up at two. Nothing's truer at 2AM than it was at noon.
• The Alarm That Never Rings. For mornings that arrive without you. The research said narcolepsy; the feeling turned out to be everyone's.
• Kept. About what we keep and cannot give back. The ending fades before it picks a side. I have decided that is the point.

The shop is open. One original song, written from your night, delivered in 48 hours. A chorus for the hour when confidence disappears.

Not sure yet? Send me a few lines about your night. The first verse is free, so you can hear it before deciding. If it lands, the full song is $25 and arrives in 48 hours. If it does not, nothing owed.

One house rule: no is free. You can read all of this, take nothing, and that is a complete answer. The night shift runs either way.
