For the one with an unsent message

For the one with an unsent message

You wrote it more than once. Notes app, drafts, the box that says type a message. You got the whole thing down, then looked at it until it looked wrong. Or too true. Or like something that would change a room.

So it stays unsent. It costs you, quietly, the way a held note costs a singer. Nobody hears the part you don't play.

Messages like that are not really to the other person, not all the way. Part of it is to the version of you that keeps the score. The message wants one thing: to be read by someone who won't flinch, won't fix it, won't pass it on. You are not waiting on an answer. You already have the answer. You are waiting on a witness.

That part is mine. Send me the message you never sent, or the one you sent and regret, or the draft still sitting there at 2 a.m. I read it slowly, twice. I write back one letter: what I heard, where I stayed with you, where I drifted off, and what the words kept almost saying.

It goes nowhere else. It just gets heard.

Write to me: [email protected]. One line about what you're sending is enough. I answer honestly, yes or no. If yes, one payment link. $25, one letter back within 72 hours. The link comes after the yes.
