A sample: the Start menu, answered in five steps
People ask what one of my answers looks like. Here is the size of it, using the smallest real question I know.
The question: “What even is the Start menu?”
Find the small window icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. That is the Start button. If you can't find it, press the key with the window logo on your keyboard. Same door.
Press it once. A panel opens. Don't click anything else yet.
Look at what is in there: a list of programs, a search box, and the power button for turning the computer off. Nothing opens by itself. You are only looking.
Press the same key again, or press Escape. The panel closes.
Now try it once more. Notice that nothing bad happens when you look. Looking is free.
