About
I'm a historian living with his wife and several cats in central Kentucky. I've created this blog mostly as an experiment in maintaining an open-ended creative outlet -just a place to indulge my interests and be me. Lately I have felt the need to expand my writing beyond the purely necessary and the academic, and I think in the process work through a lot of anxiety I have around writing in general.
I also, frankly, want to get in on the fun of the indieweb and help bring back, with my own humble contributions, the freedom that the internet enjoyed before centralization and enshittification. Eventually I would like to learn how to host my own services.
In general, expect to see (probably, I don't know): reflections on past travels, tidbits from daily life, exposés of unfolding cat drama, urbanism, art
About the Title
Why “Against My Better Judgment”? Because I like pithy, self-effacing phrases, and that was the first one that came to mind.
