linux

Working as a statician in the public administration, I rely on R and PostegreSQL. Hence, #opensource is not a spare time penchant, but the serious foundation of my work.

Before, I was employed as a scientific assistant of a MP, and as a postdoctoral lecturer at universities in Germany and South Africa.

As a working class kid, I got my first access to a computer at university, as we could not afford such things at home. So I learned how to use AIX on an IBM workstation. After buying my first own (but used) laptop, I encountered a bluescreen of death and installed #linux.

My M.A. thesis was about the breakdown of Keynesian economic policies in the 1970s, my PhD analysed the transition of a communist country to democracy, and my habilitation thesis (kind of second PhD) dealt with the South African consumer credit market. More credentials you find at ORCID.
