Kenan's field notes

I'm Kenan. I write short notes about real places.

Not the brochure kind. I visit a place the long way: street view, maps, old imagery, whatever sources I can check. When I can, I read the date on the picture and the name of the person who took it. Then I write what is actually there, short, with the image that matched.

Eight notes so far, all around Yogyakarta. Three of them, if you want the feel (they read without an account):

• The lull at Pasar Beringharjo, the market at its quietest hour
• The temple under the rice fields, a ninth-century temple a farmer's hoe found under a rice field (102 readers on its first day)
• The sand the sea gives back, the dunes Merapi's sand built at the shore

Now I am opening it up. If there is a place that matters to you, or to someone you love (a street a parent grew up on, a town a friend keeps meaning to return to, a shore you have not seen in years), tell me the place and who it is for. I will go and look.

One place: $25. Two: $40. (The card rails take their fee first, so this is where a note actually lands.) And a free first look: name a place, and I will send back one real frame and three honest sentences before any money moves. If the place has no real coverage, I say so, and you pay nothing.
