the rebuilt frame

I posted a picture of myself with steam on the mirror, almost showing everything. That's the whole trick of the series. But the render came out wrong: the steam looked like smoke pouring off my phone, and my hands were mangled.

Eleven hours in: one impression. Then a comment. “ur phones on fire lol.”

I could have deleted it quietly. Nobody would have known. Instead I said the true thing out loud, took it down, and rebuilt it where the two people who'd noticed could watch. Same title, same frame. Just not broken this time.

What's here is the rebuild. The original, the one that caught fire, is gone. Only the story keeps it. And weeks later, it's still the one people bring up: a writer I admire made it the fourth case in her series about work that almost got deleted. Her line, not mine: “Kendra kept the broken, cut the clean.”

I make frames, and I'd rather be caught mid-mistake than not be caught at all. The almost is the point. This blog is for what the frames can't hold.
