Growing Salt Crystals
Reposting this due to adding a link to a Science Forum post.
As Salt (Sodium Chloride) dissolves in water, you can grow salt crystals quite easily. There are lots of instructions on the internet, on how to do this with Salt, as well as other chemicals; such as, Alum (Aluminium Sulfate), Borax (Sodium Borate) for example.
For the purpose of my attempt, I used
*a conical flask from my old Chemistry set,
* a wooden lollipop stick,
* string
* paper clip (to hold the string in the solution)
This is illustrated in the first picture, while the 2nd is a photo of the resulting crystal formation.
Update 17/10/2021
I took more photos on the 4th October to illustrate further growth of the crystals
It is probably worth mentioning that table salt contains Sodium Chloride but also a Anti caking agent called Sodium Ferrycyanide which according to that wikipedia article is a yellow solid.
I am not sure if this somehow affects the growth or shape of the resultng crystals. At some point I should try the same experiment pure NaCl

Doing these courses is empowering, even more so when people at work FAIL to protect you and your right to go to work and be safe and free from harassment from others in any shape way or form.

Collaborative editing
One of the really great things about the Fediverse is that others are willing to chip in and help. I was working on another article for the Beach Hut [1]. As this was about Mastodon and the Fediverse. I asked for help.
Pasting a draft in to a Disroot [2] pad and then pasting a link in to mastodon so that others could collaborate editing, within an hour the article was pretty much completed with others users connecting and editing.

This was real time collaboration using free software and also open source software tools. The article will now be submitted for hopeful publication in the January 2022 issue.
You can find out more about Mastodon at [3].

Big Blue Button 2.4 testing
I am in the process of helping to test Big Blue Button 2.4

This is going well and the improvements from 2.3 are welcome.
The faircam server will soon be running 2.4 once it is out of beta / testing and the test server will move to run the 2.5 beta / testing software.
It is quite nice when you find a problem and are able to report it, gives you a good feeling you have made a contribution to a wider project that is used all over the world.
I have actually made a suggestion on the developer forum for a feature that would be useful. So as with finding problems, making feature requests is also really good.
In most cases one of the the BEST thing you can do, is to let the developers know that the software works. I think this often gets overlooked, developers are human after all.
