African American Studies supressed.

This is happening in the USA right now.

And some more from George Takei (Lt Sulu from Star Trek)

We have got to wake up to this, while this is in the USA, it is a path that seems very dangerous, banning books not approved by state, or from approved suppliers, denying Trans kids access to the same drugs as their cis counterparts. This all adds up. I will post some info on a comment (well more tirade) by Donald Trump on the 3rd of Feb.

All this seems is linked to State Governor Ron DeSantis but also linked to other republicans.

Wake up or face the same thing happening in other countries. This is all being discussed on the Fediverse right now, and people are suffering, teachers can't use books, and kids who can't afford books are being denied access to books.

Trump returns to Facebook and Instagram

There is not much to be said about this, so I will provide a link to the BBC report on this and let readers decide regarding the ethics of this.

As far as I am aware Donald Trump is still facing criminal charges which I think includes inciting insurrection. The issue is therefore not closed and until a court decides if he is guilty or not guilty, I don't think Nick Clegg is qualified to make the decision that Trump is safe to return, especially as he is still claiming the election was stolen.

The Linux Experiment: How to use Mastodon

I have scheduled this post to tie in nicely with my previous post which explains why I feel it is good that I left Twitter.

Another really useful guide on how to use Mastodon which is part of the Fediverse, social network of decentralised services.

Unless you have been living in a cave, you should have heard of this by now.

Good job I left twitter

Just spotted this on the Fediverse.

Twitter has reinstated the account of white nationalist Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes.

From various reports, Twitter is now a cesspit of right wing people spreading their hated, a safe haven if you like for those who are racist, anti-Semitic, transphobic and homophobic as well as holocaust deniers.

Don't expect mainstream social media to report on this though, they seem to be part of the problem and not the solution.

Thankfully I left back in November, this after the grotesque way employees were dismissed and treated. Since then there has been a huge (millions) of new people join the decentralised social network(s).

This was posted to the fediverse, and I agree entirely

Musk and his minions have reinstated the account of one of the nation's most prominent bigots. This is not remotely surprising to anyone who's paying the slightest attention.

I remain surprised, and disappointed, that so many people in the journalism world still choose to use that platform -- knowing that they are supporting people who want to see the U.S. become a right-wing dictatorship.

All I will add is, I am equally surprised so many organisations who work with children and young people are still on Twitter, especially as they claim to be committed to safeguarding.

I will stick to the fediverse, I can engage in intelligent conversation.
