In an update to my previous post the learn LaTeX resource has now developed really nicely in to an excellent resource.

You can have a go at the exercises using Overleaf or the built in editor.

This resource is now progressing really nicely. Joseph Write did a presentation on this at Tug2020

Resources

You can ask questions on LaTeX forums here

If you do need some help then I can mostly be found on Qoto STEM focused Mastodon instance within the fediverse. I do login to the LaTeX forums from time to time. I seem to be on ScienceForums quite a lot these days discussing either Chemistry, Astronomy or Astrophysics.

Note: I am just trying to promote the above websites, I am hoping that my basic chemistry tutorial can complement.

Free Code Camp progress 4/6/2020

I have spent the last few days, working though Applied Accessibility, which is the forth component of Responsive Web Design.

I needed to ask for some help on the date/time activity. I therefore wrote this post while waiting. In true fashion, within about an hour I had an answer from the FreeCodeCamp forum. Turns out I had an errant space and period in my code.

I am roughly 50% of the way through so making good progress.

Online and remote learning : Lets not forget privacy.

This is an excellent article by the Free software foundation on the importance of maintaing user / learner privacy while they are learning online.

Some interesting points being raised and some serious concerns about privacy, use of webcams and monitoring of students during tests etc.

Learners need to ask questions and not just accept this as the new normal.

Action Counters Terrorism update.

Back in December 2019 I completed the Action Counters Terrorism course.

ACT Awareness e-learning is a new counter-terrorism (CT) CT awareness product designed for all UK based organisations and individuals. It provides nationally accredited, corporate CT guidance to help industry better understand and mitigate against current terrorist methodology.

The following e-learning modules are available:

Introduction to Terrorism Identifying Security Vulnerabilities How to Identify and Respond to Suspicious Behaviour How to Identify and Deal with a Suspicious Item What to do in the Event of a Bomb Threat How to Respond to a Firearms or Weapons Attack Summary and Supporting Materials

As of 22/5/2020 I have completed the updated version of this which adds SCaN which stands for See, Check and Notify. It is still useful to
