Critical thinking web
With the recent riots in the UK, fueled by misinformation. This link on a Fediverse caught my eye.
Critical thinking web have some Learning modules which combine to make a course:-
- Critical thinking
- Meaning analysis
- Argument analysis
- Basic logic
- Venn diagrams
- Sentential logic
- Predicate logic
- Scientific methodology
- Basic statistics
- Values
- Strategic reasoning
- Fallacies and biases
- Creativity
These courses and modules would be of interest to students but also anyone who wants to improve their own ability to think and understand the information we are presented (or perhaps bombarded with) on a daily basis, from a wide range of sources.

CyberSec Hacking courses
Just reposting this, you may need to request info on when the next set of courses start.
One of the advantages of being on the Fediverse is you interact with a really wide group of people. You also get to find out about interesting things going on. With Cybersecurity being a really hot topic at present with a real demand for skills, then Black Hat Spring Trainings 2024 | Registration may be of interest. This course will take place in the USA, but you only have until early January 2024 to sign up.

Code Club 19/8/2023 Write up
So this week, we started the attendees with more Hour of Code activities. We are slowly starting to move towards learning text based programming languages and away from Scratch.
The hour of code activities allow for block programming but the resulting block code be viewed as java based code which is really useful for building that link.
In order to support this I had a go at Mario secret advantures which helps to build some of the many important features of gaming, movement, collision, scoring etc.
I have just made a video and uploaded to peer tube, my system is a little slow so I have left out the music part, but the main point of this exercise is to use loops to reduce code needed.
Next code club 2nd September.
