LEGO Santas Visit Brilliance – A Light Kit Review
From the moment I saw the box art, this set intrigued me. Lego has been putting out sets lately that have some unique angles and this one is no exception. It also features an excellent Santa upgrade with a new face and torso print as well as dual-molded legs to give him his black boots. Set Overview
A festive build to savour The latest addition to the LEGO Winter Village theme, 10293, features a traditional cottage complete with Christmas tree, light-up fireplace, letters for Santa and a cosy family scene. The set is a great way to experience the special tradition of Christmas Eve and it captures perfectly that sense of anticipation as the family prepares for Santa’s arrival.
This build is packed with little details that make it fun to play with and photograph. There are a couple of interesting angles in the roof that give the build an extra element of interest and the inclusion of hinge plates means the building can be positioned at any number of different angles. The set also makes good use of a number of different colour parts, such as the opalescent 1x1 bricks that are used in the lanterns to give them the appearance of both frosted and candle-lit glass at the same time.
Designer Chris McVeigh has crafted a very impressive model that looks fantastic and is the perfect addition to the Winter Village collection. The set’s design and theme are perfectly matched by the minifigures included and the detail throughout the build tells a great festive story. It is clear that the design team love Christmas and it shows in this great set.
As is customary with Winter Village sets, this one includes a selection of collectible minifigures (CMF). https://gameofbricks.eu/products/lego-elf-club-house-10275-light-kit The four included are an adult male, adult female, child and Santa himself and as usual, they are well made and a lot of fun to play with.
This is another one of those sets that really deserves a light kit and I’m happy to say this is the best yet from LMB! The color and flicker effects on the lights are superb and truly bring out the brilliance of this set.
The light kit is a great addition to this set and I’m sure it will make this one of the must have sets for 2021. The price point is very reasonable at $100 US for 1445 pieces, making it a real bargain. Build
The kit makes this set a true show piece and it really brings out all the details that would otherwise be missed. There have been a few Lego sets that exemplify this including Titanic and the upcoming Boutique Hotel, but Santas Visit takes it to another level as the angles are all over the place and there is an insane amount of detail packed into the build. Like the Ninjago City light kit this one is not cheap but it makes a set truly come to life.
Spot all the ingredients that make Christmas Eve special, from stockings hung on the fireplace to a bowl of cookies and milk for Santa, plus more fun brick-built details in every room of this intricate house. There's even a mini Saturn planet in the girl's bedroom! It's the perfect Christmas model building project for adults and kids alike to savour and then display. Light up the tree, door lamps and candles to add extra sparkle. Minifigures
The main attraction here is undoubtedly the lighting, but there’s so much more to savour in this set. It’s packed with festive details that will delight fans of the Winter Village collection, from stockings on the fireplace to a place setting and cookies for Santa at the dining table. There’s also a Christmas tree that lights up when pressed and some brick-built boughs to complete the scene.
The set comes with four minifigures, including Santa himself. He’s a newer figure with a face and torso print that differ from previous iterations, plus dual-molded legs for his signature black boots. He’s also got a festive cap and reindeer head element, and his new coat looks very smart.
In the cottage, a family of two adults and one child are preparing for Santa’s arrival with milk and cookies on the table and some presents under the tree. The adult male and female both have printed hats and torsos, while the child has a unique head element with a double-sided face that’s reminiscent of the baby from 10263 Winter Village Fire Station.
Outside, a postbox and wreath add to the holiday cheer. A Christmas tree lights up when pressed, and a few extra touches like a bird feeder and some hanging stars bring the scene to life. The sand green roof is also a nice touch, blending in well with the rest of the cottage.
This is an excellent example of how the Winter Village sets work, bringing together a wide range of different elements to create a charming model that captures the excitement of Christmas Eve and the anticipation of Santa’s arrival. The lighting is spectacular and, as with all LeLightGo products, easy to install – a process that takes just seconds. This is a great addition to the line and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next in the series. This kit is ideal if you’re planning to use the set for play, although it should be noted that the Santa slide down the chimney feature will no longer function once the light has been added.
