La Rosiere is the Tarentaise Valley’s lesser-known cousin to nearby world-famous resorts like Tignes and Val d’Isere. But don’t be mistaken – this is a fabulous ski destination with plenty to offer all levels of skiers.

It’s a great choice for families, thanks to the gentle terrain and excellent snow record. There are also a variety of accommodation options, from the high-quality slope side chalets in the hamlet of Les Eucherts to the more sociable village centre hotels. It is a very family friendly resort and we find that there are plenty of good restaurants offering delicious meals at a reasonable price.

In addition, the resort has a small but effective ski school backed by a number of independent instructors. A range of slope-side bars and restaurants provide a lively apres ski scene, as well as a choice of shops and a cinema.

The Poletta drag lift was put into operation in 1960, marking the start of winter tourism in this charming village. The villagers themselves pushed for the development of skiing as they saw it as an economic opportunity that could provide a much needed boost to the local economy.

Conscious of the need to pool their resources, the villages of La Rosiere and La Thuile joined forces and applied for EEC funding. This resulted in the creation of a highly efficient ski area called ‘Espace San Bernardo’ and it has grown ever since.

In the past few years, the resort has improved its terrain and infrastructure. New runs have opened up, and the Lutins magic carpet and Petit Saint-Bernard adventure trail have made the resort even easier to get around.

The resort is a fabulous base from which to take day trips to the other world-class ski areas in the valley. The Paradiski area (Les Arcs and Villaroger) is just a short drive away, and the secret powder heaven of St Foy can be reached in an hour’s drive. If you’d like to try out this fabulous mountain destination, we recommend booking our ski holiday package including accommodation in both La Rosiere and La Thuile. Our package includes a full ski outfit with the latest modern ski clothing from our partner, Ski Chic. Simply book online and your kit will be delivered direct to your accommodation.
