I have a short mental list of songs that have really epic build-ups that don't really deliver the goods when it comes to the chorus.
The pinnacle of this list is “Heat of the Moment” by Asia. Epic intro, sweeping vocals leading to ... meh.
Don't get me wrong. I love all these songs, it's just that their choruses feel like a bait-and-switch. Like they yoinked the chorus from a different song.
