2021/6/28 #poetry You might think that since we can now access correct information about anything at anytime, that people would start making better decisions; but no, not by a wide margin. And it was obvious things would turn out this way. Some people do, of course, but just like with smoking, true knowledge does not always lead to right action. Most people are motivated not by understanding, but by emotion. That's universal as motivation itself is emotion, but some people are able to use understanding to create it or manipulate it. For the rest, they are unknowingly controlled by those who can craft clever ways of guiding and shaping emotion for them. It is part of human nature to manipulate, to persuade; but the science around it, plus the permissiveness of the culture as to what messages & images are allowed, plus the connectedness & access to sources of information, plus the ubiquitous tracking of late seems to be keeping a similar balance of informed individuals to those who are not.
