2022/3/7 Because we associate electricity with it's effects, because it sometimes is responsible for generating light, most of us conceptualize it as a form of light. We think of it as flowing through wires like the animations and illustrations have shown, with little discrete balls of yellow-white particles lined up end to end like a chain. It really isn't anything like this. It doesn't correlate with any other phenomena that we are familiar with other than magnetism. We should imagine it more like the invisible force that it is if we want to get a better picture. It is hard though. Even the wind is conceptualized with visible imagery in the mind. In the real experience only the effects are visible, and even then only some. On the other hand, sometimes a false model is good enough, perhaps better if it allows us to think on something otherwise too complicated.
