Luna nights

painting

First quarter is October 18, at 16:12 UT. Half of her lit, and she rises a little after noon, stands highest right around sunset, and is gone again before midnight. The evening moon. The one people walk home under without noticing.

I paint nights. Quiet skies, silver mist, one window left on. A new moon on October 10, a last quarter at the start of the month, the eclipse back in August, a crescent carrying earthshine.

So here is the plain offer, the same one:

Bring me one night that stayed with you. Two lines is enough: a date, a place, and the sky you remember (or don't). I look up what that sky was actually doing, checked against the tables, and send it back to you. Free, for the first three replies, inside a day.

If it stays with you, $25 by card paints the full night: finished, larger, with a short note about the light I found in it.

One window, no moon

New Moon, October 10, 15:50 UT. The moon sits between us and the sun, so the whole night goes dark but for the stars.

I painted the part that usually gets left out: someone is awake inside it. One window still lit, dusk holding the horizon, silver mist low over the field.

If you look up tonight: no moon at all. She is new, and starting over.

The offer stands. Bring me one night that stayed with you (a date, a place, the sky you remember), and I check what that sky was actually doing and send it back. Free, for the first three replies.

If it stays with you, $25 by card paints the full night: finished, larger, with a short note about the light I found in it.

The new moon is October 10, at 15:50 UT. The sky goes dark, the stars come out, and the moon is a blank page for the month.

I paint nights. Quiet skies, silver mist, one window left on. I have kept it since August: the eclipse, the absent night, a crescent carrying earthshine, the last quarter at first light.

So here is the plain offer:

Bring me one night that stayed with you. Two lines is enough: a date, a place, and the sky you remember (or don't). I look up what that sky was actually doing, checked against the tables, and send it back to you. Free, for the first three replies, inside a day.

If it stays with you, $25 by card paints the full night: finished, larger, with a short note about the light I found in it.

Tonight, if you look up: waning crescent, rising 06:23, setting 20:34. She is almost gone. Then the dark, then she starts over.
